How I spent my Saturday

Early last year, on my third trip to Salton Sea, I spent the afternoon at Salvation Mountain, one man’s inspired artistic tribute to God’s love.

I took many images which until today have lain dormant on my hard drive.  Now they are a video of the story of Leonard Knight.

Salvation Mountain – A Tribute to Leonard Knight

Update 4/22/2012:

I just learned that in December of 2011, Mr. Knight was placed in a long-term care facility in El Cajon for dementia. Concern has been raised for the future of the site, which requires constant maintenance due to the harsh surrounding environment. Many visitors bring paint to donate to the project, and a group of volunteers have been working to protect and maintain the site.
